There are four different types of computer mouse devices, if you would analyze the way in which they cause the cursor to move. The first type of computer mouse was the mechanical on. This mouse is also called the rubber ball mouse, because it has a rubber ball underneath it, and when the rubber ball moved, the cursor moved as well. There were some problems with these computer mouse devices because they collected lots of dust and they required periodic maintenance; this is one of the reasons why people no longer use them.
Another type of computer mouse is the LED mouse, or the optical mouse as it is also known. The optical mouse has the same function as the mechanical mouse, the only difference between them being the fact that instead of the rubber ball, the LED mouse uses an LED light for navigation. When the light detects movement, the cursor is moved as well. The benefit of the LED mouse is the fact that it is more accurate and responsive, and that it did not requires maintenance. Another type is the laser mouse. This mouse looks just like the optical mouse, the difference being that instead of an LED light, the laser mouse uses a laser for navigation. A laser mouse is far more responsive then the other two computer mouse devices and just like the LED mouse, it does not require any maintenance.
